Members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Adamawa State University, Mubi chapter have kicked against the removal of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Shall David, by the state government.
The Chairman of the union, Abubakar Song, and Secretary, Aliyu Umaru, made this known on Wednesday in a signed statement issued in Yola.

ASUU said: “The removal of the Vice Chancellor is a great setback to the university as it draws the university from the glaring development it is witnessing before the sudden change.
“This action contravenes the autonomy of the university and therefore unacceptable to the union.”
It urged the government to reconstitute the institution’s Governing Council to contain the problem it described as “administrative shortcomings”.
It added: “The non-existence of the Governing Council has rendered the university vulnerable to administrative shortcomings that led to the emergence of petitions from some members directed to the state government instead of the university council.
“The union is of the view that the delay in reconstituting the council is a great setback to the university.”
ASUU called on Governor Jibrilla Bindow of Adamawa State, who is the Visitor to the university, to expedite action on the reconstitution of the council.
According to the union, the reconstitution of the council will give room for proper structures of the university to be put in place as prescribed by NUC and the law establishing the university.
It noted that the removal of the Vice Chancellor due to the absence of the council “which made some individuals to take advantage and misled the governor to remove the vice chancellor”.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalled that the Vice Chancellor was removed last week by the governor for alleged “maladministration”.
