GRAPHIC PHOTOS:ATTACK ON 6 VILLAGES IN ADAMAWA STATE, DPO KILLED
Unknown gun men in the wee hours of today invaded 6 villages of Goron Ward in Girei Local Government Arera of Adamawa state setting the whole villages on fire and killing an unspecified number of people.
Girei Local Government is one of the areas bordering the Yola the Adamawa state capital. Inhabitants are mostly farmers, cattle reares and fishermen.
Eye witnesses say the attackers numbering over a thousand came in shooting with high powered guns, bbows and machetes killing with the exception of women and children.
After the attack, 6 villages comprising Koh, Demsare, Tabongo, Fawure, ,Noyine and Ndikajam have been completely razed down by the marauders.
Eyewitness report says there was an exchange of fire between the Nigerian military and the attackers who retreated into the bushes.
Sources also confirm that the DPO of viniklang division was killed during the attack.
Survivors were seen going through the rubble in hope finding remains of dead relations and property.
NEMA, ADSEMA and RED CROSS officials were on site recovering dead bodies and aseesing the level of damage done in the affected areas.
Security situation at the moment is calm following the deployment of members of the Nigerian mobile police force to the area.
