The Executive Governor of Adamawa State Governor Senator Muhammad Umar Jibrilla has said that the state would support Christians to participate in the 2015 Christians pilgrimage Exercise considering its moral and spiritual benefits. He disclosed this when the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Mr. John Kennedy Opara who was on sensitization visit at the Government house, Yola in company of the Adamawa State CAN/PFN Chairman Bishop Mike Moses, members of the EXCo and prominent leaders of the Christian Faith
Governor Jubrilla commended the NCPC Boss for introducing the skill acquisition programme into their pilgrimage exercise.
The Governor encouraged religious leaders in the country to preach good leadership to their congregation, according to him, “it is only a just and fair leadership that can make our country a better place”.
Speaking earlier, the Executive Secretary of NCPC Mr. John Kennedy Opara congratulated the Governor on for his victory in the last election, “your victory was a well deserved one”. He prayed that God will help him in his new office to serve the people of Adamawa well”.
He commended the Governor for the giant strides he has put in place to strengthen the people of Adamawa state.
The NCPC boss intimated his host that the Commission now runs four pilgrimage programme annually: the Easter pilgrimage, which runs from March – April, the Youth pilgrimage in July, the Family pilgrimage in August and main pilgrimage in October – December.
He emphasized that spirituality is the hall mark of our pilgrimage, stating that the Youth pilgrimage is targeted at empowering the youths through the skill acquisition programme the Commission has included in its pilgrimage exercise.
The NCPC helmsman further disclosed that the Commission is introducing Christian pilgrimage Lottery scheme through which people will be enabled to embark on Pilgrimage with little or no cost. According to him, “this is one of the steps the Commission has taken towards self sustenance.”
