Google Hosts 200 Developers At First Ever DevFest Yola

Google Developer Group (GDG) Yola opened its doors to developers from across the state to amplify the 2019 season of Developer Festivals (DevFest) in Nigeria.

This year’s edition of DevFest Yola, which held at City Green Hotel, Yola  on Saturday 26 November 2019, was dubbed the biggest ever community-led developer event in Adamawa State  with about 200 developers of all levels in attendance.
DevFests are large, community-run developer events that take place around the globe focusing on community-building and exposure to Google’s new technologies. The events cover multiple product areas such as Android, Firebase, Google Cloud Platform, Design Sprint, Machine Learning, Mobile Web, Google Assistant, Artificial intelligence and more.

Arafat Sabo, Curator GDG Yola

Speaking at DevFest Yola, Google’s Dev Fest Yola Curator, Arafat Sabo said, “Since the developer’s festivals began years ago, Google has made it a priority to support these events which take the form of Hackathons, Meetups and Barcamps. Nigerian software developers are creative, ambitious, and technically savvy.  We’re excited to get more of our tools in their hands, and then stand back and see what cutting edge products and services they will develop – for Nigerians and for a global audience.”

DevFest is sponsored by Google and aims to create a space for software developers and IT enthusiasts to get new ideas, learn from industry experts, engage with peers, and use Google Technologies and other developer tools.
