ADAMAWA'S EDUCATION/HEALTH REVOLUTION
In what looks like a follow up to the state of emergency declared in the education and health sector by the Adamawa State Government, the state executive council in an extra ordinary executive council session Monday, considered a number of interventions in both sectors and approved some of the contracts aimed at resuscitating the ailing sectors.
The state Governor Senator Mohammed Umaru Jibrilla Bindow said his Government is always ready to match words with action and ensure that critical infrastructure are provided for the benefit of ADAMAWA people.
In the education sector schools that have been outlined to benefit in the first phase are



- Government Secondary School Hong
- Government Science and Technical College MUBI
- Villanova Government Secondary School Numan
- Government Day Secondary School SARAU
- Government Day Secondary School Demsa
The intervention in the education sector also involves the procurement of assorted textbooks for Teachers and Students across secondary schools in the state, purchase of chemicals and reagents for practicals in science schools and other schools where students offer science subjects, provision of beds and beddings which are visibly inadequate and in some instances absent in boarding schools across the state.
There are also several interventions due to commence in Primary and junior secondary schools across the state under the Universal Basic Education Board resulting from the payment of counterpart fund by the state Government.
In the same vein, Governor Bindow reiterated that the teachers salaries is priority and everything is been done to ensure that the backlog of arrears is been paid so as to motivate the teachers and take care of their welfare, these Bindow believe will place education in the state on the right track.
HEALTH
In the health sector council has approved the construction of the Numan general hospital which is believed to be the most dilapidated among all the general hospitals in the state, the contract involves reconstruction and rehabilitation of the entire hospital starting from the maternity complex.
These massive intervention of the state Government is geared towards revamping all secondary health facilities in the state, the construction and equipping of the theatre in Specialist Hospital Yola has already been completed and in use as other sections of the specialist hospital await reconstruction.
The rehabilitation of Mubi general hospital will see the accident and emergency unit as well as the morgue been reconstructed and expanded to acceptable standard. Other sections of the hospital will also be reconstructed. The provision of adequate potable water will also be made available at Mubi general hospital.
The Bindow administration has ensured that Ganye general hospital which has been without potable water for decades now has adequate potable water, this is the starting point of the rehabilitation of the hospital by the Government.
The commissioner for Health, Fatima Atiku Abubakar emphasized that Doctors quarters will be provided in all the hospitals to encourage medical doctors who should be resident within the vicinity of the hospitals for prompt response and efficiency at work.
Senator Bindow underscored the fact that the success of his administration in road constructions will be replicated even much more in the education and health sectors across the state and visible reconstructions will be noticed in the coming weeks. He further calls for patience and support from the people of the state as the Government focuses in ensuring prompt and adequate service delivery to the people.
