Recession: Adamawa Partners Museum Commission On Diversification

Adamawa State deputy governor, Marthines Babale  has reiterated government’s commitment in supporting the National Commission for Museum and Monument in order to diversify the economy in the state.

He stated this when the Director General for National Commission for Museum and Monuments,  Alhaji Yusuf Abdullahi Usman paid him a courtesy call at Government House, Yola.

The DG National Commission for Museum and Monuments  said his visit to the state is to intimate the state government on the decision taken to revitalise Sukur world Heritage site at 42 Sessions of UNESCO.

He explained that Sukur cultural landscape is the first UNESCO world Heritage site in Nigeria, noting that the place was attacked and a lot of damages done by the insurgency. He said UNESCO commends the Sukur community for defending themselves throughout the insurgency period adding that some team of UNESCO will come to ascertain the level of damage and assist in rebuilding the site.

He then solicits for the support of the state government in establishing a palace museum at Mubi, Ganye, and Numan to showcase evidence of great civilisation and sustain tourism development in Adamawa State.
