Around 3:45pm, a huge explosion occurred in front of Unity Bank, Jimeta Yola, the source of the explosion was a huge 33, 000 litre petrol tanker that contained Diesel gas which was parked in a construction firm’s parking lot.
According to eye witnesses, the explosion occurred when the contents of the taker was being offloaded into smaller containers for use by heavy duty construction vehicles. The intense heat and the other factors did not favor the transfer thus the explosion and huge billows of smoke.
By standers were seen taking pictures around the area
It took the combined efforts of the State Fire Service and the American University Fire Service Unit to quell the fire successfully. No casualty was recorded in the tragic event.
Thank God for that.
